LIBERATION PSYCHOLOGY:
Roots, Memory, & Practice

A 3-Part Journey in Decolonial Healing

Program Overview

Liberation Psychology is a nine-month participatory, interactive immersion designed for practitioners ready to engage healing work that addresses the actual scope of our current polycrises. Western psychotherapy has long operated from a fundamental misrecognition that suffering is primarily located inside the individual, amenable to individual repair. Liberation Psychology names what many practitioners have felt but lacked a framework to address: the clinical hour is too small a container for wounds born in history, carried in lineage, and reproduced by systems.

Trimester I - Roots

We begin by expanding the container of care, tracing how personal distress is intimately shaped by historical, systemic, and intergenerational forces. Together, we deconstruct mainstream diagnostic models to map a broader, decolonial understanding of pain and lineage.

Dates:

- Module 1: Genealogy of Suffering: Tending Collective Histories with Dr. Pumla Goboda Madikizela, Sep (TBA).
Integration session with Dr. Mays Imad, Sept 12th & 19th, 10am.

- Module 2: The Wound That Travels: Working with Lineage and Context with Dr. Jennifer Mullan, Oct 3rd & 17th, 10am.

Trimester II - Memory

Turning toward our inherited resilience, this term invites us to recover the wisdom, stories, and ancestral connection fragmented by colonization. Through dreams, ritual, and altered clinical frameworks, we cultivate memory as an active medicine for collective belonging.

 Dates:

- Module 4: Medicine for the Soul: Ritual, Dreams, and Story with Eduardo Duran, Dec 2nd & 16th, 10am.
Integration session with Barbara Aragon, Dec 5th & 19th, 10am.

Trimester III - Practice

Moving from insight to embodiment, we transition into the active work of restorative, holistic healing. Here, we weave together our collective grief, connection to Land, and radical community care to transition from the theory of decoloniality into the living, daily practice of liberation.
